Wiki? What's all that about then?

What's the Wiki?

The Wiki is the part of the site that members of the congregation can control. You can use it for keeping people up to date with things (from what's on in a fellowship group, to who's making the coffee next Sunday). It's a bit like a church noticeboard...

What's so special about that?

It's easy - that's the special bit! If you can work hotmail, you can work this. It really is that easy! And you're allowed :-)

What do you mean, "easy"?

The pages have an "Edit Page" link, and if you click on it, you get a window a bit like the one for writing an email in hotmail. Except that the content of the page is in there already. You just change it, and press the save button. And that's it!

If you're not feeling quite so brave press the preview button to see what your changes will look like before you save them ;-)

What if I break something?

That's surprisingly hard to do! But even if you mess up a page, it's no problem. We keep the old versions, so we can go back to the previous version of the page.

But why is it callled a Wiki

Wiki wiki is Hawaiian for "quick" and it's pronounced wee-kee wee-kee. Ward Cunningham invented the first Wiki, so he got to pick the name (and it is very quick to make changes to a Wiki).

Anything else I need to know?

Yes. The password :-)
