Windsor Baptist Annual Report 2006

Tuesday Plus

2006 has been a year of fluctuating numbers. However despite people coming and going we have had an average of 14 members in the group. During the year we said goodbye, temporarily, to Hilary and Reuben Marshall and Alison and Holly Webb. We welcomed Sue and Joel Barron who joined us during maternity leave. We were sorry to lose Alison Patterson and Alice due to work reasons.

We also gave thanks for the safe arrival of Charlie Howe and Max Webb. The number of children varied during the year from 6 to 10.

Again our thanks go to our childminders Isobel Gamble, Pat Hildrup, Mary Ogbobi, Grace Palmer and Ruth Webb who do a wonderful job and are totally reliable.

Our bible study for the first half of the year was a series on the fruit of the Spirit. These challenged us to look at our lives to test whether our attitudes were at all like Christ’s. These studies were always honest, involved a lot of humour, but challenged us again and again about prayer and our relationship with God. At the end of the series Ruth Mc Cormick spoke to us on listening prayer. It was a very helpful morning and we want to thank her for her practical advice and encouragement.

At the end of the first half of the year we had our annual coffee morning, this year held at the home of Alison Patterson. It was a lovely sunny day and we indulged in lots of chat and eating!

In September we began a new series continuing on from Ruth’s challenge to us to look at prayer and the part it plays in our relationship with God. We have used a study book entitled ‘Prayer, an adventure with God’. This has proved to be both daunting and encouraging.

It has been a year of study, our chief aim in meeting together. However this group is about more than study, it is also about people. Our other aim is to be a caring friendly group of people concerned about each other. This in effect proves to be the natural outcome of studying and learning together and we thank God for his many blessings this past year.
