Windsor Baptist Annual Report 2006
Youth Fellowship & Clay
Youth Fellowship
There have been lots of major changes in Youth Fellowship since September- a new
venue, two groups instead of one, new leaders, and a whole new Sunday evening event.
Our numbers have grown, with up to 25 young people meeting on a Friday evening, so the decision was taken to divide into two groups - a junior and a senior YF - meeting together for the recreational part of Friday evenings, but dividing for the teaching part. This meant that new leaders were needed, and, thankfully, lots of great new (young-mostly!!) leaders have emerged (see photo). We are also very thankful for the timing of the availability of the Morton Centre in Lorne St with its great facilities and very helpful staff. We have four good sized rooms and a large hall to use, so that our usual list of activities has now been extended to include badminton, unihoc and, I’m sure, lots of other things that we haven't thought of yet! We have also had outings to 'Planet Fun' in the King’s Hall and the Ice Bowl for bowling and crazy golf.
Please pray for safety, fun and fellowship as well as good teaching and learning and young lives influenced for Christ. Pray also for the school friends that many of the young people regularly bring along.
Clay
After much deliberation 'CLAY' is the name suggested by the young people for this
group, drawing on the analogy of being made, moulded into the people God wants us
to be, as we learn what it means to become more like Jesus Christ in our lives today.
This is the central theme and desire of this group as we meet on alternate Sunday evenings in the Family Centre. Our programme consists of three inter-relating strands of 'The Bible', 'Action in God's World' and 'Difficult Issues for Young People Today'.
We have explored an outline of the Bible and methods of reading and applying the Bible, and have begun a study of Ezra and Nehemiah. We have learned from different guests and discussed different areas of ‘mission’ in the world. Having reflected on money as a resource at Christmas, we bought a goat for an African village (it was christened 'Dave' after one of the leaders!!). Worship, relationships, friendship evangelism and defending our faith in our relationships are some of the issues we have discussed and shared as a group.
As we worship, pray, share, laugh and reflect together, we as leaders, Dave Cromie, Sara Graham, Nathaniel and Donna Jennings and Tanya Orr feel a great privilege to be building relationships with such a fantastic group of individual young people, as together we explore and are encouraged to be more like CLAY in God's hands.
