Windsor Baptist Annual Report 2006
Crèche
After eleven years of writing the crèche report, this year seems different. I suppose I have seen crèche primarily as fulfilling a task:
- Young children need looked after safely and happily and each year we are grateful to God and to our helpers for achieving this.
- Parents are freed up to worship, hopefully without worrying about their children.
This year God has shown me that crèche is an integral part of the functioning body of Christ in a more meaningful way.
Children become known and comfortable with the other children and adults. This can lay a foundation of knowing they are part of the body from before they can even remember.
As the adults are helping they get a chance to know the children which will last the rest of their respective times in Windsor. We cannot know how God will use any of these relationships, the potential is vast.
Helpers can become more involved in the lives of parents and other helpers. God does not wish us to be islands detached from others, yet it is sometimes difficult to forge relationships with those sitting beside us in the pew. Crèche creates an opportunity to build friendships, new mums to get to know other mums, newcomers to serve and as a by-product integrate with others, older mums to build relationships with new mums whom they can help and support and probably vice versa.
God has placed us in a body, each person is significant and important whatever their age, marital status or personality. God can use crèche to deepen and strengthen relationships within His body in Windsor and by this we can glorify His name.
